“This time I’m writing out the plan in them, carving it on the lining of their hearts”.
I love this image. God choose to “carve” love into the very lining of our hearts! Have you ever watched someone carve an image? It takes talent, patience and a keen eye for what the medium will stand in the carving process. It is slow and done with love and goodness.
That’s how much God wants to know us, to be kind and gentle to us, to love us unconditionally. God changed the course of the plan for us, for me, for you. God did this because the original plan didn’t work. Humans, Gods precious creation, would require more patience and tender care, and that called for a new plan.
May we walk into that which is carved forever on our hearts. May I always seek love, patience kindness and goodness and place the old on the shelf.
“This new plan I’m making with Israel isn’t going to be written on paper, isn’t going to be chiseled in stone; This time I’m writing out the plan in them, carving it on the lining of their hearts. I’ll be their God, they’ll be my people. They won’t go to school to learn about me, or buy a book called God in Five Easy Lessons. They’ll all get to know me firsthand, the little and the big, the small and the great. They’ll get to know me by being kindly forgiven, with the slate of their sins forever wiped clean. By coming up with a new plan, a new covenant between God and his people, God put the old plan on the shelf. And there it stays, gathering dust.”
Hebrews 8:10-13 (The Message)
God carved love into our hearts, may that love take hold and permeate our very being.
With joy,
